AFTER MOVING 120 MILES TO A NEW WILLIAM DAVIS HOMES PROPERTY, BRENDAN AND DUNCAN GREENFIELD-TURK HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT WORK-LIFE BALANCE IN MARKET HARBOROUGH, LEICESTERSHIRE.
Brendan can reach his office in London’s Canary Wharf within 80 minutes thanks to the excellent transport links, while the couple enjoy their new home’s beautiful rural surroundings at Wellington Place.
“We fell in love with the area, there’s a real sense of community here,” said Brendan (35). “We also love the fact that it’s not as expensive as living in London or Essex – where we moved from. The quality of life here is so much better.”
High quality fibre broadband means the couple can work from home effectively. They have converted an upstairs bedroom into an office. With a study/office downstairs, they can both work without distractions in the 4-bedroom Beamish.
Brendan works on a hybrid basis, with two days in the office and three days working from home each week. “Thanks to the rail line in the East Midlands and the new Elizabeth Line, I can probably reach the office quicker than travelling from some places within the London area,” he said.
“I can do the quiet, focussed work at home and then concentrate on the in-person team-building and strategy sessions in the office.”
Their ideal work-life balance means the couple still have plenty of time to enjoy country walks with their two dogs, horse riding and cycling, while making the most of the fantastic range of restaurants and pubs in the Market Harborough area.
“We love eating out and many places in the area are also dog-friendly, which is really important,” said Duncan (42), who runs a travel business from home. “There are some lovely walks along the canal and the surrounding countryside.”
The couple are also impressed with the thoughtful design of William Davis’ development and what they describe as the “ample space” between the houses. They have created three seating areas in the garden, in order to make the most of the sun during different times of the day.
“We love entertaining and having friends round,” said Brendan. “The outdoors is really important to us and it’s great that both the lounge and the kitchen have access to the garden. We looked at homes on other developments, but this house was definitely the right choice.”
