Dan Ward and Kira Beszant, both in their early twenties, had been thinking about buying their first home together for some time. The couple was looking for somewhere commutable for work, yet close to family and friends. Dan, a graduate trainee with William Davis Homes, was already familiar with a number of developments in the area where they wanted to live.
It didn’t take them long to decide that William Davis Homes’ 5-star Buttercup Fields development in Shepshed was the perfect location. Only minutes from the motorway, key towns and cities like Loughborough, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham are close by, and East Midlands Airport is only fifteen minutes away, providing plenty of opportunities for work and leisure.
While the development provides lots of modern conveniences and access to local amenities, it also features large open spaces, balancing lakes, walks and cycleways, as well as retaining ancient trees and hedgerows. The site is designed to encourage sports, outdoor living and biodiversity—something else that impressed Dan and Kira. The couple selected a two-bedroom, semi-detached Rother at Buttercup Fields as their first home together.
“Having enrolled in the government’s Help to Buy scheme, we selected the exact plot we wanted in February 2020 but going into lockdown shortly after, we were naturally concerned whether we’d done the right thing,” Dan said. “But the William Davis team were brilliant, helpfully addressing any concerns raised regarding the uncertainty the pandemic brought and keeping us informed of how things were progressing throughout, which was really reassuring.”
One thing Dan was confident about, however, was the quality of their new home.
“Having worked for William Davis Homes for some time, I’ve witnessed the attention to detail and quality of build first-hand, which ensures every home meets the ‘Five Star’ standard, so I knew our home would be expertly built.
“Knowing exactly where our home would be built and what it would look like was very exciting, plus we knew the generously sized garden meant we’d have plenty of space for outdoor living, too.
“The development is really beginning to mature and the attention to detail in landscaping and the street scenes makes it a very special place to live, especially as moving here has made it easier for me to get to work and it hasn’t been a big move away from our families, who are close by.
“Having felt we were ready to move into our first home before lockdown began, spending time apart was not easy, particularly as further lockdowns were announced. However, having to wait did make it all the more rewarding when our new home was ready, and we could move in,” Dan said.
The young couple is now planning to make the most of their garden, with outdoor furniture, a shed and barbecue on the shopping list. Dan and Kira are delighted they made the decision to buy their new home when they did, thanks to the care and support of the William Davis Homes team.
