Free Radio Breakfast Show hosts JD and Roisin were invited to leave their handprints for posterity during the visit to the new William Davis Homes development at Houlton.
The popular pair looked around one of the stylish showhomes, which opened on Saturday, and recorded a video as part of a forthcoming competition to win a home-tech bundle on their weekday show.
“We’re so proud to broadcast to the area we call home and the opportunity to visit the home of Britain’s first ever transatlantic voice broadcast was one we didn’t want to miss” said JD.
Added Roisin: “It was great to be invited to bring our own bit of radio fun to this historic site and have a look at the quality properties William Davis Homes has to offer here.”
The brand new development has an excellent choice of 2-5 bedroom homes, all beautifully designed inside and out. For a limited time, visitors to the new William Davis showhomes can collect a Golden Ticket worth £7,500 (by appointment only, terms apply*).
The voucher is available for collection until Sunday 14th August. It can be used towards either stamp duty or an allowance on legal completion of a new home.
It’s hoped the radio pair’s handprints will form part of a special feature within the William Davis Homes development, as a further reminder of Houlton’s broadcasting heritage.
Houlton was named after the town in the United States that received the first transatlantic voice broadcast from Rugby Radio Station in 1927. At the time, Rugby had the world’s most powerful radio transmission station.
Rugby Radio Station has now been transformed into a secondary school as part of the wider development of the 1,200 acre site by master developer Urban&Civic. It includes new homes, schools, shopping areas, community facilities and vast green open spaces.
William Davis Homes forms part of this masterplan, working with Urban&Civic to make Houlton a vibrant new neighbourhood with a range of quality properties, local amenities and accessible transport links to the centre of Rugby.
The masterplan for Houlton, which includes 6,200 homes and a range of infrastructure including the conversion of the former radio station into Houlton School, is being delivered by Urban&Civic and Aviva Investors.
A primary school (St Gabriel’s), extensive green spaces and play parks, a local centre comprising a Visitor Centre, Co-op, Tuning Fork café, community centre and children’s nursery, plus the 5km link road connecting Houlton to Rugby have already been delivered and around 1,000 homes are now occupied.

*Voucher must be collected by visiting the William Davis Homes showhomes at Houlton (appointment only) until 14th August inclusive, and buyers must reserve their plot by 11th September 2022 (selected plots only). The voucher is only redeemable at legal completion.
